A Sony exec has claimed that GTA V on PS4 ‘will be something very special’, leading to speculation of exclusive DLC.
One of the stranger moments during Sony’s pre-E3 media briefing was when they announced Grand Theft Auto V for the PlayStation 4, making no mention of the PC and Xbox One versions and seemingly implying it was an exclusive.
It isn’t though and so far as any official announcement goes the game is identical, at least in terms of content, on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
But speaking to website Kotaku, Sony exec John Koller made some very vague comments about there be something unique about the PlayStation 4 version, but even when pressed on the point only offered the following:
‘GTA V is going to be, I think, a title we’ll talk about more in the weeks and months to come, but GTA V and the GTA franchise is something that will be something very special on PlayStation 4′.
Clearly this could mean just about anything, from a PlayStation 4 exclusive in-game hat to a major new story expansion. He could also simply be implying that the graphics will be better, and will use techniques the Xbox One is not capable of.
What’s doubling confusing though is why there’s a need for secrecy, since the game is out this autumn and you’d assume if it was something major E3 was the perfect time to announce it.
Rockstar works in mysterious ways though, so it’s best to wait for them to comment on the situation – rather than anything Sony might be trying to hint at.
Although Koller at least seems suddenly extra keen on the franchise, adding: ‘GTA is a PlayStation franchise. It started with us. We really feel strongly that it belongs as a key platform driver for us’.
