The announcement for a PC version of “Grand Theft Auto V” could come this week, says a rumor that’s being circulated online.
According to a Amazon support screenshot, the PC version of “GTA V” will be announced on Christmas Eve on Wednesday. The German gaming website Spieletipps obtained the screenshot.
“This time … a screenshot has been leaked to us by [a reader],” Spieletipps said, adding that “can anyone identify signs of a fake on the screenshot?”
The PC version of the game will then be released sometime in March, another rumor has said. The International Business Times, citing a pre-order release from a Norwegian retailer, said the PC version of the game would come out around March 19, 2014. But there’s no confirmation that it could be accurate.
The Times report did not mention the name of the retailer.
Rockstar has not made any comments about a PC version of the game–despite fans clamoring for one.
“GTA V” is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It is unclear if the game will be released on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, but there have been rumors it will be.
In the past, Amazon leaks have been shown to be accurate, but that’s never a surefire thing. The PC versions of “Mortal Kombat” and “Injustice” were first leaked on Amazon.
According to WCCF Tech, more evidence of a PC release includes that nearly every “AMD Catalyst Update contains the GTA V executable” binary. The website also notes that the PC version could have DX 11 and 2k Textures available for the PC, suggesting there will be a release on the platform.
“GTA V” became the world’s fastest-selling game, generating sales of more than $1 billion around the world.
An online petition has been signed by 500,000 people for a PC version.
